ABOUT
Founded in 2009, Fairfax Conservatory of Music is a private music conservatory dedicated to the creative enrichment of the community. We offer artistic, personalized lessons to students of all ages, levels, and musical backgrounds with an emphasis on creative learning and technique. Our school belongs to the Music Teacher's National Association (MTNA) and Northern Virginia Music Teacher's Association (NVMTA), providing additional recital, competition, and audition opportunities. We offer our own Accreditation Exam, multiple Recitals and performance opportunities, and we offer various Course Events annually. Free audition guarantee, no semester commitments, cancel anytime with 30-days notice.
For Adult Students in particular, we are one of Metro-DC's/Northern Virginia's top music centers offering exclusive opportunities through Adult-Only Soirées and Enrichment Programs that include workshops, performance classes, lecture-recitals, and more. All our piano students have regular opportunities to play/learn on a Concert Grand Steinway, Semi-Concert Grand Grotrian, and multiple additional Grand pianos of reputable quality. Due to high enrollment numbers of piano students, we are able to offer chamber music opportunities to all instrumentalists and vocalists through our exclusive Enrichment Program. This enables students to learn how to collaborate with their peers. FCM faculty are Grammy and Award-Winning, international performers, and Carnegie Hall experienced. Our Director has a teaching-lineage pedigree from Slater, to Eisenberger, Leschetizky, Liszt, Czerny, and directly back to Beethoven.
Unlike a typical music school, our private conservatory does not automatically accept every applicant and requires all applicants to audition for a spot in our programs. The audition is structured to be a constructive, positive experience in which every applicant is given a chance to learn more about how to proceed with their music education. Our audition process includes a musical evaluation and consultation to determine character, willingness to learn, musical strengths and weaknesses, and an overview of learning style. Auditions are accepted for all levels of playing ability, from absolute beginner to advanced, from ages 4 to 124 years old.
